Although night had passed, the side chamber was still a little dim.
Through the single small window high in the wall, all one could see outside was a sky thick with leaden clouds.
The lady-in-waiting lifted the lamp wick and brightened the light, then set the lamp by the bed.
“Lady Knight, are you perhaps feeling shy?”
She looked at the brown-haired knight who seemed a bit hesitant, her expression tinged with teasing.
“How could I be?”
Leif exhaled, forcing herself to ignore the strange unease in her chest, then undid the tie at the front of her tunic.
