After looking around, Chen Wan was quite satisfied with the RV. The space was well-utilized, making it feel spacious. Even with several people inside, it didn’t feel cramped. She smiled and looked at Jiang Yanxin and Yang Yang, teasing Yang Yang on purpose, “Looks like we can have a good sleep tonight.”
Jiang Yanxin saw Chen Wan smiling at her and Yang Yang but didn’t react. She didn’t know Chen Wan’s intentions or if she really planned to keep them around, so she remained cautious.
The little one, seeing her mommy smile at her, timidly smiled back at Chen Wan despite still being a bit scared of her.
Chen Wan felt a pang of sadness looking at the uneven hair on the little one’s head. How could the original Chen Wan be so heartless to repeatedly try to abandon such a well-behaved Yang Yang? Chen Wan reached out to hug the little one and actually did so. She looked at Jiang Yanxin, “Can I hold Yang Yang?” Then she turned to Yang Yang, smiling, “Let mommy hold you, okay?” Yang Yang pursed her lips, not daring to speak. Last night, mommy didn’t abandon her while running, so she kind of wanted to be held. But she always listened to her mom, so she immediately looked at Jiang Yanxin.
Jiang Yanxin nodded at Yang Yang, “Go ahead, let your mommy hold you.”
She wasn’t really reconciled with Chen Wan. She still suspected that Chen Wan was no longer the same person. But given the current situation, if Chen Wan liked Yang Yang more, at least Yang Yang wouldn’t be in immediate danger.
Hearing her mom’s response, Yang Yang reached out to Chen Wan. Chen Wan lifted the little one into her arms, bouncing her gently. The little one was soft and quite cute, though she didn’t smell very good.
Chen Wan sniffed Yang Yang’s little face and chuckled, “Sweetie, you need a bath just like mommy. You smell bad. How about mommy gives you a bath?” Jiang Yanxin immediately took Yang Yang back from Chen Wan’s arms, explaining, “I’ll bathe Yang Yang.”
Seeing Jiang Yanxin still didn’t trust her, Chen Wan nodded. She understood, given that the original Chen Wan had tried to abandon Yang Yang several times. It was natural for Jiang Yanxin to be cautious.
“Alright, you go ahead and bathe first.” Chen Wan said as she reached for the clothes in the luggage bag. She hadn’t seen what styles they were last night in the dark, just grabbed whatever and stuffed them in. At this point, having something to wear was good enough, no need to be picky.
Chen Wan first pulled out clothes for Yang Yang, a set of strawberry-patterned shorts and a T-shirt. She handed them to Jiang Yanxin, “Change Yang Yang into these. The clothes she’s wearing are too dirty, just throw them away. Yours too.”
Then Chen Wan took out a T-shirt and a pair of cropped jeans for Jiang Yanxin.
Jiang Yanxin was surprised that Chen Wan had prepared clothes and asked, “When did you get these?” Chen Wan smiled and explained, “Last night when I went to find the car, there was a supermarket next to the parking lot. I used noisy toys and a radio to distract the zombies and took the chance to grab some things from the supermarket.”
Jiang Yanxin looked at Chen Wan smiling as she talked about it, feeling a bit tense. It was clearly a dangerous situation, yet she could still smile. If something had happened to her last night, she and Yang Yang would probably have fallen into Zhang Qiang’s hands again. But given her current relationship with Chen Wan, Jiang Yanxin couldn’t say much.
She put Yang Yang down, looked at the clean clothes in her hand. It was fine for the child not to wear underwear, but it didn’t seem right for her. She hadn’t bathed or changed clothes for over half a month, and her clothes smelled bad. She couldn’t go without changing her underwear.
Jiang Yanxin cleared her throat, glancing at the luggage bag, and awkwardly asked, “Do you have any underwear?” Chen Wan remembered she had only taken out outerwear and had forgotten the underwear. She squatted down to search, “Yes, I forgot to take them out.”
Chen Wan found a sports bra and three boxes of underwear she had grabbed last night. She handed one box to Jiang Yanxin and found a pair of pink bunny underwear for Yang Yang, handing them all to Jiang Yanxin.
Remembering something, Chen Wan rummaged through another bag and found shampoo, body wash, and towels, handing them to Jiang Yanxin, “This should be everything. Go ahead and bathe. I’ll wait for you to finish before I go.”
Jiang Yanxin placed the shampoo and body wash on the bathroom shelf, putting the clean clothes on the highest shelf to keep them dry. She then returned to pick up Yang Yang for a bath.
Before entering the bathroom, Jiang Yanxin glanced at Chen Wan several times but said nothing. If what Chen Wan said was true, only she could control the RV, meaning she could open the bathroom door anytime while they were bathing. But with nowhere else to go, staying with Chen Wan was their only option. Saying anything would just be awkward, so it was better to stay silent.
Chen Wan had no idea that Jiang Yanxin was thinking so much. While she was organizing the items from the three large bags into the storage cabinets, she kept an eye on the progress of the RV repairs. She placed the clothes in one cabinet, daily necessities in the cabinet to the right of the clothes, and the food in the cabinet closest to the stove.
After finishing the organizing, Chen Wan started to feel disgusted with herself again. The smell on her body was really overwhelming. So, she simply sat on the sofa bed, staring longingly in the direction of the bathroom, hoping that Jiang Yanxin and the others would come out soon.
Jiang Yanxin and Yang Yang were also in a difficult situation. Yang Yang’s hair had been shaved by Chen Wan, which was somewhat better, but much of Jiang Yanxin’s hair had clumped together. It took a long time with shampoo to finally separate the clumps. In the end, it took over an hour for Jiang Yanxin to get both herself and Yang Yang clean.
Yang Yang was very happy in the bathroom, hugging Jiang Yanxin’s leg and laughing, using her baby voice to say, “Mommy, the bath feels so good~” Jiang Yanxin looked at the milky-white Yang Yang in front of her, smiled, and patted Yang Yang’s little head, “All clean and comfortable now?” Yang Yang nodded her little head happily, snuggling up to Jiang Yanxin and acting cute, stretching out her little hands for her mommy to squat down, “Mommy, squat down a bit.”
Seeing Yang Yang’s adorable expression, Jiang Yanxin squatted down with a smile and leaned her ear closer, “What does Yang Yang want to say, being so mysterious?” Yang Yang sneakily made a circle with her little hands and whispered to Jiang Yanxin, “Mommy, has Mommy changed for the better? She didn’t reject Yang Yang and even hugged Yang Yang just now.”
Hearing Yang Yang being so understanding, Jiang Yanxin’s eyes reddened a bit. She could only pat Yang Yang’s little back and comfort her, “With Mommy here, no matter what happens with your other mommy, Mommy will always be with my Yang Yang.”
Yang Yang pouted her little mouth; she also wanted her other mommy to like her.
Seeing Yang Yang a bit down, Jiang Yanxin quickly comforted her, “Yang Yang is so cute, your other mommy will like you too.”
Yang Yang then snuggled up to her mommy, thinking about how she could make her other mommy like her more.
Jiang Yanxin dressed Yang Yang and went to get her own underwear. After putting on a sports bra, she opened the package of panties, only to find that they were black lace with very little fabric.
Immediately, Jiang Yanxin’s expression turned cold again. Was Chen Wan implying something by giving her such clothes? Jiang Yanxin snorted coldly. Whether this Chen Wan was the same as before or not, one thing was certain: this person was definitely a pervert, still thinking about such things at a time like this.
Jiang Yanxin’s eyes reddened slightly. She sighed and put them on anyway. Even if it was just for Yang Yang, she had no choice.
Taking advantage of Yang Yang’s inattention, Jiang Yanxin put the fruit knife from her old clothes into her pants pocket, then opened the door and led Yang Yang out of the bathroom.
