The food at the school cafeteria was nothing special, but it was cheap, nearby, and generally considered safe, so students still tended to eat there.
During the meal, the four girls seated at Jiang Chenxin’s table chattered about all sorts of trivial things. Jiang, meanwhile, was too unsettled to do more than mechanically feed herself. Her calls still would not go through, there had been a shadow behind the curtain, and there had been knocking from the other side of the door… Taken together, these things made her sense of foreboding grow stronger by the minute.
