“If I freeze the hearts of everyone in the world, then the witch will be destroyed, right?”
In some ways, the queen had already gone mad.
To protect her country, she wanted to eliminate the witch, but to do that, there could be no evil left in the world.
How do you get rid of evil? Seal away everyone’s emotions.
Without feelings, there’s no evil.
“Sealing the witch isn’t enough.
She must be destroyed.
That’s my mission.”
The entire capital of the kingdom was covered by this magic circle.
The queen never did things half-heartedly.
Unlike other people’s fights, where you start with thirty percent of your power, then the other side uses forty, then you go up to fifty… That kind of thing never happened with the queen.
She was all about efficiency.
Once she confirmed the witch’s identity, she went straight for the kill! She froze the witch.
This capital city was the witch’s massive tomb.
All the residents of the capital would be buried with her.
Only the queen could safely leave the range of the magic.
“To leave so much evil inside me, she really is a witch.”
When Chen Xing showed her evil magic, the queen knew that power was above her own, so she was sure Chen Xing was the witch! Now the witch was sealed, but the queen’s body was left full of the witch’s darkness.
She could feel that evil substance filling her up inside.
Luckily, the evil matter separated from the witch’s main body lost its energy source, so its power dropped a lot, and the queen’s ice could seal it.
According to the queen’s plan, keeping this darkness inside her wouldn’t have any effect, because she had no emotions or physical senses, so the darkness couldn’t influence her mind.
But… was that really true?
“You used so much magic to seal me away.
Queen, you really don’t mess around.”
Suddenly, Chen Xing’s voice came from the darkness.
The queen wasn’t surprised when she heard it, just turned to look at the dark corner.
Chen Xing stepped out of the darkness with graceful steps, a smile on her face.
She looked all smiles, but inside she was shocked.
There really was a power in this world that could restrain her.
That frozen time—Chen Xing hadn’t expected it.
She really had been sealed, but as the dark witch, how could she not have a few spare bodies? Every dark offspring could be used for Chen Xing to resurrect herself, though they were much weaker than her main body.
This body now belonged to Salina, that tool witch.
When the queen activated her magic, Chen Xing had already moved her consciousness into Salina.
“Looks like I was right to be careful.
Even if you can’t kill me, this kind of seal is still a pain.”
Chen Xing controlled the dark matter that made up Salina’s body and reshaped it into her own form.
Salina’s soul fell into a deep sleep.
You could call this a clone of Chen Xing, definitely not as strong as her real self.
“You’re the witch’s clone.” The queen saw right away that this witch’s magic was clearly a level lower, so she wasn’t the real witch.
No need to use the big freeze-time spell on her.
“Pretty much.
Your Majesty, you used up a ton of magic, and now you need even more to suppress the darkness inside you.
And I can’t use my full power in this body, so this is a fair fight.
Let’s see what it’s like to enjoy a real battle.”
Reading Salina’s memories in her mind, Chen Xing started a new round of fighting with the queen.
For two mages, it was just a magic bombardment.
Even though she’d used up a lot of magic, you had to admit, as the strongest in the Ice Empire, the queen was still powerful.
Chen Xing couldn’t get the upper hand for now.
But Chen Xing wasn’t worried at all.
She’d already prepared for this kind of situation.
“Your Majesty, don’t you think your mind’s gotten rigid?” Chen Xing taunted her in the middle of the fight.
The queen wouldn’t get angry, but Chen Xing still wanted to say it.
“Your brain might be human, but you can’t think like a human anymore.
You’re like a machine, just following your programming, always chasing maximum efficiency, but…”
She stopped, her gaze turning to the capital shrouded in blue light.
The next moment, countless tiny cracks appeared in the light.
It sounded like something was breaking in the air.
The cracks grew, quickly filling the whole blue space.
Then it shattered.
The frozen time and space were undone.
“This was meant for that witch, right? Too bad, I’m not her.”
Chen Xing was right.
This space seal was designed to deal with the second-generation witch.
The second-generation witch appeared later, so all the records about witches in this world were about her.
The first-generation witch had appeared so long ago, and that battle nearly destroyed the world.
Few survived, and there weren’t many records left.
What little there was had mostly faded away over time.
Until the second-generation witch showed up.
She rampaged mainly in the human world, with little interference from the gods.
In the end, the witch was defeated by a human alliance, so all the stories about witches were about her.
And there was another thing: the first and second-generation witches—humans never really figured out the difference.
The second-generation witch came out of the Valley of Darkness where the witch was sealed, and she had the same powers as the witch.
So was she the original witch or a new one who inherited the evil power? Humans never decided.
Some said the second-generation witch was the first, who broke the seal and escaped.
Others said she was a new being who inherited the evil.
Only the gods knew the truth, but it wasn’t something they wanted to talk about.
They couldn’t admit that their goddess had fallen to darkness, right? That would ruin their image among humans, since the gods were always seen as the ones who fought darkness and evil.
They couldn’t be corrupted.
The gods’ vague attitude led to humans misjudging the witch.
In a way, the second-generation witch took the fall for Chen Xing, because this magic circle was designed for her.
The second-generation witch didn’t have the magic eye, or the ability to instantly move her consciousness into a clone.
So as long as you trapped her with this circle, she couldn’t escape.
But Chen Xing was different.
She saw through the magic circle, sent Little Dragon Girl to deal with it ahead of time, and moved her consciousness the moment the spell was cast.
With her magic eye, Chen Xing saw the core of the magic circle deep underground.
She had Little Dragon Girl control her dark clone to destroy it.
She didn’t stop the spell from activating, but at least she ruined the result.
Chen Xing’s real body was freed, and all the queen’s magic spent on the seal was wasted.
“Looks like all my effort was worth it.”
Because of Chen Xing’s earlier trick, the queen had absorbed a ton of dark matter.
Now she was completely under Chen Xing’s control.
No need to worry about the queen using princess-type teleportation magic to escape.
Even if she ran to the ends of the earth, Chen Xing could find her.
If she’d used force from the start, the dark matter would never have touched the queen, because she would have frozen it to pieces.
That’s why Chen Xing had to swallow her pride and let the queen drain her.
Chen Xing’s efforts had paid off.
The queen was destined to be hers.
Now, she just had to figure out how to let the darkness completely consume her.
“Little Dragon Girl, grab her for me first.”
Chen Xing’s consciousness returned to her body, then she spat out a lump of black mud.
The black mud quickly expanded in midair, transforming into a winged girl.
As the leader of darkness, dealing with the current queen wasn’t even worth her personal effort anymore.
“Fire at her!” The queen seemed to use some kind of magic to transmit her voice to the soldiers inside the city.
The soldiers manning the turrets immediately activated the magic cannons the moment they received the order! The muzzles, brimming with magical energy, all aimed at the Little Dragon Girl swooping down from the sky.
In an instant, hundreds and thousands of dazzling beams shot at her at once.
Even though Little Dragon Girl was flying fast and was a small target, these cannons were as accurate as if they had auto-aim.
Every shot landed precisely on the path Little Dragon Girl had to take, exploding just before she reached them.
There was no need for a direct hit; the shockwaves from the airbursts were nothing to scoff at.
Each magic cannon was powerful enough to flatten a mountain, specially built for future battles against evil invasions.
With hundreds and thousands of cannons firing at once, the sky was instantly engulfed in a blaze of energy.
The massive shockwaves swept down from the sky like a hurricane, kicking up snow everywhere and toppling large swathes of buildings.
“Awooo!” Little Dragon Girl seemed to be enraged.
She let out a roar, her body rapidly expanding, and in the blink of an eye, she turned into a massive black dragon.
Now, the beams hitting her body were like little fireworks going off beside her.
“Wow, this is such a strong déjà vu.” Chen Xing watched the scene, feeling like she was watching Ultraman fighting monsters.
What happened next made that feeling even stronger.
Countless small flying machines took to the sky, swarming like bees in front of Little Dragon Girl.
They fired beams at her like crazy, exploding in dazzling bursts like fireworks when they hit her tough dragon scales.
The Ice and Snow Empire really lived up to its reputation for advanced technology.
The sheer number of these magic flying machines and magic cannons was unmatched by any other country.
If they were up against a regular army, just one round of bombardment from these weapons would probably turn a hundred miles into a wasteland.
But unfortunately for them, they were facing a black dragon with absolute magic immunity.
“ROAR!!!” The black dragon opened her mouth, spewing scorching black breath.
The flying machines didn’t even need to be hit directly—just brushing past the edge turned them into balls of fire.
