Jasmine stared, dumbfounded, at the massive violet greatsword buried in her chest. Her face was frozen in pure disbelief.
Trusting that her dragon scales would protect her turned out to be her very last thought. Blood soaked her snow-cherry hair, the light in her eyes dimming as her life ebbed away. Her body toppled backward with the force of the blow, and her consciousness was flung far, far away.
Did I…die?
