Ensnared Bloom: A Short Yuri Horror Visual Novel

Two adult women hold hands in a rain-soaked hedge maze with a manor behind them under a violet storm sky.

Ensnared Bloom is a short Yuri horror visual novel from NoodleDonut and a small team. Its creator lists about 9,000 words, two endings, and roughly one hour of play. For GL readers who want a dark story without starting a long series, those are useful details to know.

The current download is version 0.8. The page still marks the game as in development, so this is not a recommendation of a finished final release. This guide uses the creator’s details, checked on 8 October 2026. It is not a review of a completed playthrough.

What is Ensnared Bloom about?

Anna Ashfield is a local police officer. After a strange call, she is sent alone to a large mansion during a storm. The building seems ordinary at first. The visit then becomes more than a routine investigation.

The official game page tags the story as Yuri and lists a female protagonist. Its public description says little about the relationship itself. That is enough to identify its GL theme, but not enough to promise a romance-led plot or a happy ending.

The team made the game for the 2026 Spooktober Visual Novel Jam. Pixel art is a main part of its presentation. If you usually read prose novels, look at the official screenshots before you download. They show the actual art and text layout, which our editorial image does not.

A short story with two endings

The creator’s estimate is about one hour. Your reading speed and any replay time can change that. The listed 9,000 words are the total word count, not a promise that each route contains that much text.

Two endings give you more than one possible outcome. The public feature list does not explain how to reach them. This guide therefore does not give route instructions or label either ending as good or bad.

Start without an ending guide if you want to keep the surprises. If you only want stories with a specific outcome, check that point first. Short length does not tell you how gentle or upsetting a story will be.

Read the content warnings first

The creator lists blood, violence, death, crude language, body horror, and descriptions of trauma, abuse, and neglect. The notice also warns of possible sadness. This is a horror recommendation, not a calm romance for a quiet evening.

If one of these subjects is difficult for you, do not rely on the Yuri tag to judge the tone. Our guide to content warnings without spoilers explains how to ask a focused question without learning the whole plot.

Where to get the current version

The itch.io page offers name-your-own-price downloads and lists Windows, macOS, and Linux. At this check, the files are labelled version 0.8. Use the download for your system and check the page for updates before you start. These are game files, not an EPUB edition.

For another Gothic GL option, our Carmilla: Crimson Moon guide covers a separate demo with a browser version. Ensnared Bloom’s page currently lists desktop downloads instead.

If a short mansion mystery with Yuri themes appeals to you, start with the creator’s page. Check its screenshots, warnings, and latest version before you decide to play.
