Pretty?
Because of Lin Youran’s words, Lin Yuan glanced at Ji Yunxiao again.
Only then did she realize that Ji Yunxiao really was dressed up today, looking much better than usual.
But so what? Even if this woman changed her whole look, with a new image and vibe, she was still Ji Yunxiao.
Only naive kids get fooled by appearances.
Lin Yuan shot Ji Yunxiao an annoyed glare, then bent down to pat Lin Youran’s head.
“Sweetie, get a grip.
That’s Ji Yunxiao, the one who hits and yells at you, the one who squeezed your arm until it was swollen.
Who cares if she’s dressed nicely or not?”
Even though Lin Yuan said that, Lin Youran still stared straight at Ji Yunxiao’s clothes.
Today, Ji Yunxiao was wearing a chiffon dress decorated with purple iris flowers, a tie cinching her waist, ruffled sleeves, and a layered skirt that gave off a light, dreamy vibe.
When she walked, the whole look swayed with a certain charm.
The dress wasn’t the fanciest, but it was soft and flowing, and felt approachable.
Ji Yunxiao noticed the little one’s gaze and waved at her.
Lin Youran lifted her head to get a good look at Ji Yunxiao’s face, her clear eyes filling with confusion.
“Youran!” Lin Yuan was getting more and more exasperated.
“Why are you still looking at her? We need to stay far away from that vicious woman.”
With that, Lin Yuan picked Lin Youran up and left without looking back.
The little girl lay on Lin Yuan’s shoulder, her round eyes still fixed on Ji Yunxiao.
Seeing this, Ji Yunxiao winked at her and lifted her skirt to show off the delicate purple iris pattern.
Lin Youran’s eyes lit up even more.
But soon, Lin Yuan carried her away into the crowd.
Looks like I’ll have to find another chance, Ji Yunxiao thought.
After getting home, Lin Yuan was still fuming, so she called Lin Qianwei.
“Weiwei, didn’t you say you’d be divorcing Ji Yunxiao soon?”
“Yeah,” Lin Qianwei replied calmly.
“If nothing goes wrong, in three months.”
“Three months?” Lin Yuan was shocked.
“Why so long?”
“It’s complicated.
I’ll tell you another time,” Lin Qianwei glanced at the figure by the coffee machine, pressed her lips together, and said softly, “I have a meeting, I’ll hang up now.”
She went back to her desk, and just then, Ji Yunxiao brought over a fresh cup of coffee.
“President Lin, your coffee.”
Lin Qianwei reached out to take it, but Ji Yunxiao, whether on purpose or not, lightly brushed her fingertips against Lin Qianwei’s palm.
A tingling jolt shot up from the touch, making Lin Qianwei’s hand tremble.
Annoyed, she sternly warned, “Don’t flirt with me.”
Ji Yunxiao raised an eyebrow.
“How am I flirting with you?”
Lin Qianwei shot her a glare and said nothing.
Ji Yunxiao coaxed, “Don’t be mad.
Try the coffee and see if you like it.”
Lin Qianwei said coldly, “I’m not in the mood.”
She set the cup down, her eyes lingering on Ji Yunxiao’s purple iris dress, then couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you dressed up like that?”
Ji Yunxiao chuckled.
“I was going to see Mom and Youran, of course I had to dress up.”
She pouted a little, complaining, “But Mom still has a big problem with me and won’t let me near Youran at all.
What am I supposed to do?” She walked up to Lin Qianwei, hooked her pinky with Lin Qianwei’s, and dragged out her words, “President Lin, you really won’t help me out?”
Lin Qianwei jerked her hand back like she’d been burned.
Her heart was racing, but she tried to act calm.
“I’m not helping you.
Figure it out yourself.”
Ji Yunxiao sighed.
“So cold.”
Lin Qianwei’s face was blank.
“That’s just the kind of woman I am.
Now please leave.”
She really shouldn’t have let Ji Yunxiao into her office, but when she saw that face, she couldn’t help but soften, and ended up bringing her in without thinking.
“So I’m leaving?” Ji Yunxiao said goodbye.
“I’m not seeing you out.” Lin Qianwei turned her back.
Ji Yunxiao said goodbye again, then left, and Lin Qianwei finally looked away.
That graceful figure was gone.
She should have felt relieved, but instead, Lin Qianwei just felt empty and inexplicably lost.
She didn’t want Ji Yunxiao to leave.
But Lin Qianwei refused to admit it.
Soon, she pulled herself out of those strange feelings and threw herself back into work.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city, Lin Yuan, at her wit’s end, called Qiao Xi over.
Lin Yuan still didn’t understand why Lin Qianwei wouldn’t get a divorce, so she wanted to ask Qiao Xi if she knew what was going on.
But Qiao Xi couldn’t give her an answer either.
Lin Yuan thought back to what happened earlier, frowning.
“Ji Yunxiao really is different now.
She must have hired a great stylist and worked on her posture and manners.”
Qiao Xi couldn’t comment.
She’d heard Ji Yunxiao had changed, but hadn’t seen it for herself.
The more Lin Yuan thought about it, the more frustrated she got.
“You didn’t see it, but today she was dressed like a little vixen.
I’m really afraid Weiwei will fall for her again and refuse to get divorced.”
Ji Yunxiao like a little vixen?
Lin Yuan was anxious.
“What should I do, Xi? You know I can’t stand someone as vicious and low-class as Ji Yunxiao being Weiwei’s wife.”
Lin Yuan said, “Xi, help me out.”
Qiao Xi asked, “How am I supposed to help?” She hated Ji Yunxiao too, and wanted Lin Qianwei to divorce her right away, but she couldn’t control Lin Qianwei’s decisions.
Lin Yuan tried to suggest, “I can’t talk Weiwei into it.
Maybe you could try again?”
Qiao Xi spread her hands helplessly.
“It’s not like I haven’t tried, but it didn’t work.”
Lin Yuan groaned, “Let me think some more.”
But for now, she couldn’t come up with any good ideas.
After leaving the Lin family villa, Qiao Xi found herself even more curious about the current Ji Yunxiao.
Lin Qianwei said she was completely different from before, and Lin Yuan called her a vixen.
So what exactly is Ji Yunxiao like now? Qiao Xi decided to find a time to meet Ji Yunxiao.
She still had to attend a haute couture dinner for a luxury brand tomorrow, so she probably wouldn’t have time.
Maybe the day after tomorrow would work.
Qiao Xi had it all planned out, but she didn’t expect Ji Yunxiao to show up at her doorstep the very next day, throwing all her plans into chaos.
“You’re… Ji Yunxiao?” Qiao Xi almost didn’t recognize her.
Ji Yunxiao was dressed in a sharply tailored black suit, with a cropped camisole underneath that showed off her waist, paired with pure black stylish trousers.
Her hair was completely tied up, revealing her strikingly beautiful face.
Just standing there, she was captivating.
Qiao Xi was stunned.
Ji Yunxiao smiled at her.
“I’m Ji Yunxiao.”
When she heard that Qiao Xi was also in this world, Ji Yunxiao was pretty surprised.
After all, there was no such character as Qiao Xi in that novel called “Sweet Pampering Honey Love.” She’d even wondered if Qiao Xi, like her, had transmigrated here, but now it didn’t seem that way.
The shock in Qiao Xi’s eyes was real—she truly didn’t know the Ji Yunxiao from another world.
Someone she used to know suddenly becoming a stranger left Ji Yunxiao with mixed feelings, but she didn’t have the mind to dwell on it right now.
She got straight to the point.
“Qiao Xi, I need you to do me a favor.”
Qiao Xi snapped out of it, and when she heard that, she sounded annoyed.
“Why should I help you?” Just because she got prettier? Honestly, Ji Yunxiao really was nothing like before.
But she didn’t seem like the vixen Lin Yuan described either—more like a cool, dominant queen.
Qiao Xi suddenly thought of something, her pupils dilating.
She just had this feeling that this version of Ji Yunxiao really could be Lin Qianwei’s 1.
Was their Weiwei really going to get topped? Qiao Xi was lost in her wild thoughts, but Ji Yunxiao spoke leisurely, “In a few hours, you’re going to a public haute couture dinner, right?”
Qiao Xi crossed her arms, eyeing her warily.
“Yeah, so what? What’s it got to do with you? Or are you up to something shady again?”
Her tone and attitude were pretty bad, but Ji Yunxiao didn’t care.
She just gave a half-smile and told her, “As far as I know, that entertainment industry starlet you don’t get along with, Cheng Zhiyi, is coming tonight too.”
Ji Yunxiao continued slowly, “And the dress she’s prepared is exactly the same as yours.”
Qiao Xi was shocked.
“No way!”
Ji Yunxiao shot back, “Why not?”
Qiao Xi didn’t want to believe it and pressed, “Even if that’s true, how do you know?”
Ji Yunxiao answered casually, “I investigated.”
She turned and got into the driver’s seat, then rolled down the window and said to Qiao Xi, “Get in.
Aren’t you going to Eilene’s studio to pick up your dress?”
Qiao Xi was confused.
“You know about that too?”
Ji Yunxiao just smiled, not confirming or denying it.
Full of questions, Qiao Xi got into the back seat and pulled out her phone to message Lin Qianwei: [Weiwei, did you tell Ji Yunxiao about all that stuff?]
Lin Qianwei: [?]
Lin Qianwei: [What stuff?]
Qiao Xi: [That I’m going to the dinner, and that I’m picking up my dress from Eilene later.]
Lin Qianwei: [I didn’t say anything.]
So how did Ji Yunxiao know?
Eilene was a famous stylist both at home and abroad, a total big shot.
Lots of celebrities had to wait in line to book her, and Qiao Xi only managed to get an appointment because of her family connections.
Even so, Eilene’s attitude toward her was still lukewarm.
But as soon as Ji Yunxiao walked into the studio, Eilene herself came over enthusiastically, beaming.
“My dear Xiaoxiao, you’re finally here!”
Qiao Xi: “?”
What’s going on?
Ji Yunxiao chatted with Eilene like old friends.
When it came to Qiao Xi’s dress, Ji Yunxiao said, “I want to change the style of that dress.”
Qiao Xi immediately refused.
“No way! Why should you mess with my dress?”
Eilene was shocked.
“Xiaoxiao wants to personally alter your dress, and you’re actually turning her down?”
Qiao Xi: “???”
