Chen Wan poured a cup for Jiang Yanxin as well, then went to the driver’s seat.
Jiang Yanxin asked her, “Aren’t you going to eat something?”
“Not yet, let’s deliver them first and then eat. We need to hurry to Funan City,” Chen Wan replied.
Seeing the tragic scene around her and recalling the events involving Jiang Yanxin’s parents and younger sister from the original story, she felt it was crucial for them to find help as soon as possible.
Chen Wan started the car, lightly honked the horn to signal Wang Xing and the others, and began driving down the road.
Upon hearing the signal, two smaller police cars and a minibus followed closely behind Chen Wan’s RV.
The zombies in front were either knocked aside by Chen Wan or run over, with only a few straggling zombies attempting to leap onto the vehicles behind, but they were quickly driven away by everyone’s weapons.
Everything went smoothly until they reached the outer ring road.
Once Chen Wan drove onto the outer ring, she discovered that the entrance was completely blocked by vehicles, creating a dense jam that stretched at least two hundred meters.
Wang Xing and the others saw this too and sighed, “Looks like we’ll have to take a detour; it’s completely blocked here.”

When Wang Xing and the others saw her stop, they did the same.
Chen Wan got out of the car and walked towards Wang Xing and his group, stopping in front of their vehicle to say, “The base is just diagonally across. You can drive over now; the streets here should have been cleared and are safe. Take care, everyone; we need to leave.”
“Sister Chen, aren’t you coming with us to the base? We finally made it to a safe place; why not go?”
The male alpha beside Wang Xing quickly asked.
After their brief interaction, he thought it would be great if this woman could be their leader.
“My wife and I have important matters to attend to in Funan City. In this apocalypse, everyone should take care of themselves. Who knows when we might meet again? Hurry along now,” Chen Wan waved goodbye to the people in the car and returned to her driver’s seat, slowly driving away from the area.
The sentry at the entrance had already noticed Chen Wan and her group, thinking they were survivors coming to seek refuge.
They were surprised to see the leading RV leave like that.
Wang Xing and the others felt a bit reluctant, partly due to guilt over the previous events and partly because of admiration for Chen Wan.
Her strength was evident to everyone, and having her around felt like having a solid backbone.

Once Chen Wan’s RV had driven far away, Wang Xing finally started his car to approach the base.
The patrolling soldiers at the entrance instructed Wang Xing and the others to pull over.
Entering the base required a health check to ensure they weren’t carrying the zombie virus.
The firearms and ammunition they had would be collected by the military, but they would receive corresponding points in exchange, which could be used to redeem items within the base.
Food, however, could be brought in.
The leading soldier looked at Wang Xing and the others and asked, “Why didn’t that RV come with you?”
“They’re heading to Funan City, so they didn’t come with us,” Wang Xing replied.
“Hey, that’s reckless! Why would they leave the base and go to Funan City? You guys are lucky to have made it here in one piece. Go get your health checks done; once that’s cleared, you can enter the base,” the soldier said to Wang Xing and his group.
Wang Xing and the others nodded, handed over their items, and followed the soldiers into the examination room.
Chen Wan parked her car at a relatively open intersection to take a short break.
She felt she had done her part by delivering those people to the base.
After all, she didn’t keep useless people around her.
The reason she saved Qin Ke was partly due to sympathy for her situation and partly because Chen Wan recognized that Qin Ke was quite capable and handled firearms well.
She guessed that Qin Ke’s previous profession was likely similar to her own, which made her want to keep Qin Ke around.
In the apocalypse, having an additional capable person by your side significantly increases your chances of survival.
After parking, Chen Wan got up and prepared a bowl of milk cereal for herself, while Jiang Yanxin held Yang Yang and told her a few stories.
Thinking that Yang Yang hadn’t eaten any crystal cores today, Chen Wan issued a command to the system, and ten translucent crystal cores appeared in her palm.

“Okay~” Yang Yang replied in a sweet voice, sliding off the sofa and waddling over to Chen Wan, wrapping her little arms around Chen Wan’s thigh.
Chen Wan set down her spoon and picked Yang Yang up into her arms.
Yang Yang snuggled against Chen Wan and leaned in to give her a kiss on the cheek, then looked at Chen Wan with bright eyes, “Mommy, I kissed you; can I have the candy now?”
Chen Wan placed all the crystal cores on the table in front of Yang Yang, gently coaxing her, “Alright, you can have them. Just take them yourself.”
Yang Yang happily gathered the ten crystal cores towards herself with her little hands, nuzzling against Chen Wan in a cute manner.
Seeing Yang Yang like this, Jiang Yanxin couldn’t help but smile, gently saying to Yang Yang, “Yang Yang, come eat with Mommy. Let Mommy have her meal first.”
Yang Yang shook her little head and nuzzled against Chen Wan, pouting, “No, I want Mommy to hug me.”
Chen Wan looked at the little darling in her arms and chuckled at Jiang Yanxin, “It’s fine, I’ll hold her. One hand for my Yang Yang and the other for eating.”
Yang Yang wiggled her short legs happily.
She gazed at the ten crystal cores on the table, pursed her lips, and took a bite of one.
A sweet, warm sensation spread throughout her body, making her squint her eyes in comfort.
After a while, Yang Yang picked up a second one.
With each core she ate, she felt more and more relaxed, and by the end, she gobbled down the remaining ones in one go, leaning against Chen Wan like a cat that had indulged in too much catnip, her eyes closed in bliss.
After Chen Wan finally finished her bowl of porridge, she couldn’t help but feel even happier seeing Yang Yang’s adorable expression.
She picked up Yang Yang and playfully nuzzled her, making her giggle.
Just as Chen Wan and Yang Yang were having fun, Qin Ke emerged from the bathroom.
Chen Wan glanced over and noticed the marks on Qin Ke’s neck and arms from vigorous scrubbing, along with injuries on her wrists and ankles.
Chen Wan felt a sense of urgency to clean them up to avoid any danger.
Holding Yang Yang, Chen Wan stood up and said to Qin Ke, “Quick, sit down and rest a bit. I’ll go get the first aid kit.”
With that, Chen Wan carried Yang Yang over to the storage cabinet.
She thought it might be too strange to conjure a first aid kit out of nowhere, so she decided to let Qin Ke gradually adapt to life in the car.

With one hand holding Yang Yang and the other carrying the supplies, she brought everything to the small dining table, where Qin Ke was sitting on the sofa, lost in thought.
Jiang Yanxin took Yang Yang from Chen Wan’s arms to make it easier for Chen Wan to help Qin Ke with her injuries.
“You have injuries on your wrists and ankles. Let me disinfect and bandage them,” Chen Wan said, preparing the necessary items and placing them on the table.
She sat down next to Qin Ke to assist with the bandaging.
At that moment, Qin Ke finally looked more like a person—a cool, long-haired alpha with an elegant appearance.
