The person who’d just poked her head out was Xuelian.
She’d been about to climb up a moment ago when she heard movement above, so she’d hidden herself on a thick branch beneath the canopy, quietly listening to whatever was happening in the leaves overhead.
Right now, Xuelian was crouched on a branch under the foliage, while the five people opposite were moving around *inside* the leaves. So you got this funny scene: Xuelian needed to watch the rustling *above* the leaves, and the five on the other side needed to watch for movement *on top* of the leaves.
