The truck wasn’t filled with guns or drugs, but with… women.
The entire cargo hold was packed with women, all smuggled from overseas to make a living.
Some might have been forced, while others came willingly.
They sat calmly in the truck as a few henchmen shone flashlights over them, treating them like livestock without a shred of respect.
Dong Enyu felt a chill in her limbs.
She had once busted a human trafficking ring overseas, and she couldn’t believe a new force had risen so quickly.
“Sister Ye! Everyone’s here. Do you want to do a headcount?”
A Ping held a checklist and respectfully handed it to Luo Ye.
She jumped onto the truck, took the flashlight, and carefully inspected the women, comparing each one to the photos on the window.
The rest of the group stood around the truck, forming a tight circle.
Dong Enyu knew they were armed with pistols, showing how seriously they took this “cargo.”
“All set,” Luo Ye finished counting, jumped off the truck, and tossed the list back to A Ping.
“Let’s go.”
At her command, everyone sprang into action.
A Ping locked the cargo door again, and the henchmen got into their vehicles.
Dong Enyu and Luo Ye rode separately, with Luo Ye in the lead car and Dong Enyu in the tail car.
In total, five cars and the large truck sped along the mountain road at night.
The winding road made Dong Enyu feel a bit dizzy as she focused on the truck’s taillights ahead, feeling somewhat melancholic.
No matter what, those women were just jumping from one hell into another…
“Hey! Give me a cigarette!”
The driver nudged the henchman in the passenger seat, asking him to grab a cigarette from the drawer.
“None left! You smoke like a chimney, I told you you’d finish them all!”
The henchman spat, kicking the drawer roughly.
Sitting in the back right seat, Dong Enyu heard their conversation and immediately pulled out a cigarette from her pocket, offering it to them.
“If you don’t mind, I have some. You can take them.”
Although they were women’s cigarettes, the men were eager enough to take them, thanking her briefly before lighting up and puffing away.
The car filled with smoke mixed with the smell of alcohol, making Dong Enyu uncomfortable.
The man sitting to her left had been drinking since they got in, and it wasn’t beer but strong liquor from Star Diamond.
He drank straight from the bottle, and seeing he was a bit drunk, Dong Enyu decided to try and get some information.
She slowly moved closer to him.
“Want a smoke?”
She offered the remaining cigarettes, smiling at him.
The man’s cheeks were flushed red, and he shook his head a few times.
“No, I just drink.”
“With the way you’re drinking, you’re bound to get drunk.
Isn’t that a problem?
Aren’t you worried about getting caught or chased by the police?”
Dong Enyu bit the end of a cigarette, lit it, and took a drag, watching the man stare at the glowing tip.
His expression was dazed, clearly drunk.
“Impossible!
These routes are all arranged by the Boss.
The police can’t find us.
The Boss never makes mistakes!”
The man clutched the bottle, his head swaying with the car’s motion, his voice broken but clear enough to understand.
“The Boss always makes deals with those people.
We don’t have to worry.
Qi Ge is just putting on a show…”
“Shut up!”
The henchman in the passenger seat suddenly shouted, throwing trash at the man.
“Say another word, and I’ll throw you out of the car!”
Dong Enyu pressed her lips together, not daring to ask more.
She returned to her seat by the window, knowing the two in front were wary of her.
Though she hadn’t learned much, she knew these arrangements weren’t handled by Qi Ge.
The Boss the man mentioned was the top figure in the gang.
As Yong Le had said, the Boss controlled guns, drugs, and now even human trafficking, with a vast influence.
This meant Dong Enyu couldn’t see the insiders.
She had to climb higher, and once she got close to the Boss, she could uncover the list.
But this process hadn’t progressed yet.
The bumpy ride lasted two hours.
Once the car stopped by the roadside, the first thing Dong Enyu did was vomit.
She leaned against a tree, bending over and retching up stomach acid.
The entire ride was filled with smoke and alcohol, combined with the terrible road conditions, almost making her throw up in the car.
Fortunately, she managed to maintain her composure.
After the nausea subsided, Dong Enyu wiped her mouth with a handkerchief and turned towards the truck.
She realized all the vehicles had stopped in a front yard.
The headlights illuminated an abandoned apartment building, old and covered in climbing plants, looking eerie like a haunted house from TV shows, making her feel uneasy.
She walked into the crowd as Luo Ye instructed A Ping to open the truck door, with five burly men following.
“Get down! Be obedient!”
A Ping opened the door, pulling the women out of the truck.
Dong Enyu heard the clinking of chains and realized the women were shackled, linked together like animals, making her frown.
The henchmen were rough, yanking the women’s arms to pull them out.
Two of the youngest fell to the ground, but they didn’t dare make a sound.
Luo Ye crossed her arms, nodding for A Ping to lead the women into the dilapidated building.
Dong Enyu jogged forward, standing beside Luo Ye.
“What are these women doing here?”
She was curious about why they brought these people to such a remote place.
“Waiting to be sold,” Luo Ye replied in a low voice.
Dong Enyu immediately understood.
This was a resale station.
The smuggled women were placed here, waiting for buyers to come and choose.
They might become hostesses or sex slaves, unable to choose their masters, just like goods in a store, waiting for customers to pick them, with uncertain outcomes.
How cruel, for human lives to be trampled like this…
Dong Enyu recalled her life overseas.
She had seen the tragic fates of bought female slaves, with no fairy tale of a master falling in love with a slave.
The so-called masters were just pigs and dogs built on money and power.
They bought female slaves like they bought punching bags, venting their desires and dissatisfaction with society.
It was truly pathetic.
“Stop crying! Shut up!”
Suddenly, a man shouted angrily.
Dong Enyu snapped back to reality, looking towards the voice.
She saw a man slap one of the women.
The woman said something in a language Dong Enyu didn’t understand.
She bit her lip, tears falling to the floor, kneeling with a defiant glare at the man.
“What are you looking at! You’re out here selling yourself and still giving me that look! Are you tired of living?”
The man shouted, and the henchmen around him laughed.
The woman, her hands bound in chains, tried to stand but was forced to kneel by the henchman beside her.
“What! You want to fight me? Fine!
Watch me strip you and teach you a lesson!”
The man said, pulling the woman’s hair and pushing her against the wall, starting to undo his belt.
The surrounding henchmen were all excited, while the women huddled together, too scared to speak.
The woman pushed against the wall seemed truly frightened, crying out louder.
The man slapped her, and after three hits, she didn’t dare make another sound, blood trickling from her mouth as she curled up in the corner.
Dong Enyu instinctively clenched her fists, looking at all the men.
Their eyes glowed with a beastly light.
If one succeeded, the situation would spiral out of control.
“Enough!”
Just as the man was about to spread the woman’s legs, Dong Enyu stepped forward, grabbing his arm.
“Enough, these women are the Boss’s goods. Do you dare play with them? If you damage the quality, can you afford it?”
The heat from his palm made Dong Enyu anxious.
These men were completely driven by lust.
“Get lost! If I say I’ll play, I’ll play! The Boss is far away. Does he have eyes everywhere?”
The man angrily shook off Dong Enyu, his eyes burning with desire, showing no intention of stopping.
“No! I won’t let you touch them!”
Dong Enyu tried to push the man away, but he suddenly grabbed her shoulder, pinning her against the wall.
His hot body pressed forward, the stench of tobacco and alcohol filling her face, making Dong Enyu turn her head away in disgust.
“You won’t let us touch her, so why don’t you sacrifice a bit and let us fuck you instead.”
The man gradually approached Dong Enyu, his scent was nauseating, and the heavy breathing sprayed on her neck made Dong Enyu tense up.
…Let them fuck her?
No way!
Dong Enyu kicked out fiercely, hitting the man’s crotch directly.
The man screamed in shock, his legs went weak, and he fell to the ground.
The surrounding lackeys were all stunned, not expecting Dong Enyu to strike one of their own.
Instantly, the lackeys started clamoring, with a few even wanting to step forward to teach her a lesson.
Dong Enyu wasn’t afraid; she would kick whoever came at her.
“Damn it! You’re not leaving here today! Grab her for me!”
The man clutched his crotch, standing up awkwardly, his eyes bloodshot, staring at Dong Enyu as if he wanted to devour her whole.
“You dare kick me, I’ll use this to kick you back…”
Slap!
The boiling emotions were instantly cooled by a slap.
The troublemaking lackeys all released Dong Enyu’s arms and stood quietly to the side.
The man who had been spewing obscenities earlier now stood wide-eyed, not daring to make a sound.
The one who hit him was none other than Luo Ye.
She wouldn’t intervene until the last moment, usually turning a blind eye when the men crossed the line, tacitly allowing them some indulgence, but tonight they had gone too far.
Even if Dong Enyu hadn’t stepped in to save that woman, Luo Ye wouldn’t have let them do as they pleased.
The boss’s goods, no one can touch.
“Sister Ye, Sister Ye…”
The man covered his face, awkwardly calling out.
“Put on your pants.”
Luo Ye said, pointing to the man’s pants that had fallen to his knees, then walked towards Dong Enyu.
She pinched Dong Enyu’s cheek with one hand, the two of them were so close that the surrounding lackeys all gasped.
…Would she be hit?
This question arose in their minds.
Luo Ye was an important subordinate by Qi Ge’s side, and Qi Ge valued her far more than any lackey.
Because of this, they even suspected that Luo Ye might be Qi Ge’s woman.
But seeing Luo Ye always silent, without any emotional expression, and treating Qi Ge with indifference, they dismissed this thought.
“I protected the quality of your goods, aren’t you going to thank me?”
Dong Enyu moved her lips, curling into a faint smile.
She couldn’t see Luo Ye’s expression, but she felt the grip on her cheek lighten.
Smelling the faint fragrance on Luo Ye, Dong Enyu inexplicably relaxed her body, her hands seemingly enchanted, wrapping around Luo Ye’s shoulders, bringing them even closer.
She slightly tilted her head up, and Luo Ye lowered her head in response, their lips overlapping in the shadows, just a brief touch before parting.
“Well done.”
She said in a low voice.
Dong Enyu raised a playful smile.
Was Luo Ye referring to her protecting the goods well?
Or was it the initiative to kiss well?
