What is Time and Time Again about?
Phoebe Mendel keeps waking up on 6 August. By the time the story begins, she has spent almost a month repeating that date. She follows familiar routines with her parents and tries to find a way out.
There is a practical reason to escape. Phoebe has a medical appointment ahead of her. She hopes the doctor will take her irritable bowel syndrome seriously, but she cannot reach the appointment while the date stays the same.
A car accident brings Jess, her childhood crush, into the loop. Jess encourages her to change her routine and try things she would normally avoid. Their shared days include concerts and road trips, and Phoebe’s feelings grow.
The author’s book description also identifies her doubt: she fears that Jess might spend time with her only because they are trapped together. That gives the romance a question beyond how to escape. Phoebe wants to know whether their connection can last when they have other choices.
What can GL readers expect?
The official description calls this a queer romance and identifies both leads as disabled and Jewish. It uses she/her pronouns for Phoebe and they/them for Jess. Those details are more precise than treating every book of interest to GL readers as the same kind of relationship story.

Check the author’s content notes
The time-loop premise includes more than light romantic moments. In the official content notes, Greenfield lists ableism, medical discrimination, and fatphobia as subjects connected to the main character’s story.
The notes also identify smaller instances of homophobia, antisemitism, transphobia, and bullying. Driving anxiety and non-lethal car accidents are part of the plot. Read those notes before you start if any of these subjects affect your choice.
