Start the MagiRevo light novels with Volume 1. Read the numbered novels in order, and place Volume 8.5 after Volume 8. This gives you a simple route through the English books without mixing the novels with the manga.
The full title is The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady. Piero Karasu writes the novels, Yuri Kisaragi provides the illustrations, and Haydn Trowell translates the English edition. This guide checks the publisher’s listings on 22 October 2026. It covers editions and the opening premise, without revealing later plot events.
A princess who studies magic in her own way
Anisphia remembers a previous life in another world. She cannot use magic in the usual way, so she develops her own research into it. Her opportunity to work with Euphyllia comes after her brother ends his engagement to the duke’s daughter.
Anisphia proposes that Euphyllia live with her and help with magicology. Euphyllia must deal with a broken engagement while starting a new life with Anisphia. If you want fantasy Yuri with noble families and magical research, the premise gives you both.
Yen Press identifies the book as Yuri and lists romance, fantasy, and action among its genres. The Volume 1 page lists paperback and digital editions. The paperback has 216 pages and a Teen rating. Use the full title and the word “novel” when you search a shop.
Where Volume 8.5 fits in the reading order
For a first read, use this order: Volumes 1–8, then Volume 8.5, then Volume 9. This is a practical reading recommendation based on the book numbering. You do not need to arrange individual short stories by their place in the fictional timeline.
Volume 8.5, Secret Tales from the Royal Palace, contains seven stories. Some return to earlier moments in the characters’ lives. It is a separate collection with its own title and ISBN, rather than a revised edition of Volume 8.
The English paperback listing gives 184 pages and a release date of 27 January 2026. If you track your books in a reading list, give 8.5 its own entry. The decimal is easy to miss when you move straight from 8 to 9.
Check the English edition before you buy
The English novel catalogue currently lists Volumes 1–9 plus Volume 8.5. That makes ten listed books, not a numbered Volume 10. Check the individual listing for format and current retailer options.
The manga has its own volume numbers. A manga Volume 3 and a novel Volume 3 are different books. Keep one format in your reading list at a time. Our Yuri format guide explains what to consider when choosing prose, comics, or animation.
If you prefer a fantasy romance contained in one book, see A Lily Blooms in Another World. For MagiRevo, begin with the novel marked Volume 1, then keep the 8.5 collection on your list for later.
