Buying a Classmate Once a Week begins its official English light novel release on 13 October 2026. Yen Press lists volume one under its Yen On imprint, in paperback and digital formats. If you know the series as Shuukura, this is the English title to use when you search a bookshop.
Usa Haneda writes the series, U35 provides the illustrations, and Jennifer Ward translates the English edition. This guide covers the publisher’s premise and edition details checked on 3 October 2026. It does not review the full novel or reveal later plot events.
What is Buying a Classmate Once a Week about?
Shiori Miyagi pays her classmate Hazuki Sendai five thousand yen for an afternoon each week. In return, Sendai follows her instructions. The two keep this arrangement private, and their meetings become more difficult to define.
After six months, neither calls the other a friend. With their final school year ahead, the story asks what can hold their connection together. The payment gives them a reason to meet, but it does not give them a clear name for their feelings.
The official volume-one page places the book in its Yuri, romance, and LGBTQ categories. Expect a relationship built around secrecy, control, and uncertain boundaries. The description does not promise a calm romance or a healthy arrangement.
Check the English edition before you order
The full subtitle is Our Time Together and the Five-Thousand-Yen Excuse. Look for the words “Vol. 1 (light novel)” on the listing. This identifies the prose edition covered here.
The paperback has ISBN 9798855431063 and a listed length of 198 pages. The digital edition has ISBN 9798855431070. Both formats currently show 13 October 2026 as their release date.
As of this guide’s date, that release is still ahead. A pre-order reserves a future release; it does not mean that you can read the complete English book now. Check the selected format and delivery estimate at your chosen shop.
For an ebook, also check which app or device you will use. The publisher links to several digital shops. Buying from one shop does not by itself give you access in another shop’s reading app.
Start with volume one, then follow the numbered volumes
Begin with volume one. Yen Press also lists volume two for 12 January 2027. That is a planned release date and can change. The second volume’s description includes events from the first book, so avoid reading it if you want to enter the story without spoilers.
Keep volume numbers separate from online chapter numbers. This guide does not establish a chapter-by-chapter match between editions. If you have read part of the story elsewhere, start with the official first volume rather than assume where it resumes.
For a different series with a main story and related books, our I’m in Love with the Villainess reading-order guide explains how to separate those editions.
Read the content description before choosing this romance
Yen Press gives the book an OT (Older Teen) rating. The premise includes paid obedience and a power imbalance between students. An age rating is not a complete list of difficult subjects, and a Yuri label does not establish how the relationship will develop.
If control or pressure in a relationship is a subject you want to avoid, check for specific content notes first. Our Yuri novel content-warning guide explains how to check one concern without asking for the ending.
Use the publisher’s volume-one listing to confirm the current date and your preferred format before you order.
