As the wood chips flew, Dong Enyu saw a group of uninvited guests in the faint moonlight coming through the door.
“Everyone to the corner! Move it, you rich bastards!” A rough voice paired with a bandit outfit, like a scene from a movie where a ship is being robbed.
Six burly men with black hoods and long guns shouted and cursed at the screaming guests, herding them into a corner within two minutes.
Dong Enyu obediently knelt beside Zhao Han.
She wasn’t nervous or worried; instead, she noticed Zhao Han was as calm as she was.
Unlike the other women around them who were crying or shouting, Zhao Han didn’t act like someone being held hostage, which made Dong Enyu smile inappropriately.
Zhao Han was indeed brave.
“Shut up! I said shut up, you bunch of pigs!” One of the men standing among the guests shouted impatiently, kicking a crying fat woman at his feet.
Then he pulled the trigger, firing a shot into the ceiling with a “bang!” The room fell into a suffocating silence, and no one dared to move or defy them.
They had guns.
These pirates were armed…
“Take it.” Another man brought a large burlap bag and signaled to his companion.
The two exchanged glances, and the man took the bag, loading his gun with a chilling “click-click” sound.
“Listen up! I’m going to walk through here, and you all better put your valuable jewelry into the bag.
If you don’t comply, you’ll get a bullet! Don’t think you can fool us!”
The man then walked slowly from the left as he said.
Each time he passed a guest, men and women would respectfully place their valuable items into the Burlap Bag, as if the man was a revered deity, and his presence was a form of forgiveness, with all the believers offering their meager tributes in gratitude and loyalty…
Perhaps the man really was a deity.
A deity controlling the lives of these foolish people…
“Hey! Be careful with that! These things are valuable! Don’t mess it up!” Just as the man was about to approach, a shout came from afar.
It turned out the other five men were moving the auction items from the ship, including the Tears of the Sea God.
It seemed this cruise ship was targeted for a reason, judging by the weapons they carried, they were well-prepared.
“What are you looking at! I’ll gouge your eyes out if you keep staring!” Dong Enyu snapped back to reality, looking in the direction of the voice.
The Burlap Bag had reached Brother Peng, but the man didn’t move.
He stared back at the man, silently resisting.
“Tsk!” It wasn’t until the gun barrel was pressed against his forehead that Brother Peng took off his watch and threw it into the bag.
Playing the hero for a moment could cost you your life, and someone like Brother Peng wouldn’t be a hero…
Dong Enyu licked her dry lips as the sea breeze blew into the dark hall through the door crack.
It’s coming, she murmured in her heart.
The man moved the gun barrel away and brought the Burlap Bag to Zhao Han.
“It’s about time to leave!” Just as Zhao Han threw her earrings into the bag, another man ran in from outside the door and shouted.
All the valuable goods had already been taken, and the jewelry on these fat sheep was just dessert.
“Got it!” The man quickly gathered the bag and slung it over his shoulder, but as he was closing the bag, he locked eyes with Zhao Han.
The man, who was supposed to leave directly, suddenly changed his mind.
A cold glance was enough to change the situation.
The man put away his long gun and took out a small handgun, pointing it at Zhao Han.
“Get up!” He ordered Zhao Han to cooperate, pointing the gun upward.
“Behave, and I won’t take your life.” His grin was malicious, implying that while he wouldn’t take her life, her body might not be safe.
Dong Enyu knelt beside, watching Zhao Han slowly stand up, fully cooperating with the man.
Robbery, hostage… Zhao Han became a sacrifice?
Dong Enyu looked up at the woman, who remained fearless.
“Hurry up! What are you dawdling for!” A voice urged from outside the door, and the man responded.
Go… they’re about to leave…
Swallowing hard, Dong Enyu slowly stood up.
“Kneel down! I said kneel down!” The man shouted angrily, aiming the handgun at her when he saw Dong Enyu stand up.
Even with the gun barrel pointed at her, Dong Enyu didn’t flinch.
Her eyes were only on Zhao Han; everything else was irrelevant.
“You’re nothing,” Zhao Han squinted her eyes, but her lips curled into a strange smile, as if mocking, as if satisfied.
“You prefer being locked up by me rather than freedom, don’t you?”
No need for rescue, no need to take on the role of a bodyguard, Dong Enyu was her dog, deprived of freedom, only to be kept at home.
Unexpectedly, Zhao Han was very satisfied.
Not stepping forward meant Dong Enyu was willing to stay by her side.
Good.
Very good.
“You’re wrong.” Steadily, Dong Enyu refuted Zhao Han.
Three words easily furrowed Zhao Han’s brows.
Dong Enyu spoke clearly, even with a hint of amusement in her tone.
“Shut up! You! Come here!” The man shouted impatiently, trying to grab Zhao Han’s arm, but she dodged.
“I said, trading a life for freedom is a win for me.” Dong Enyu smiled freely, as if she would break out of the cage in the next second, flying into the blue sky, unrestrained.
Zhao Han pursed her lips tightly, her gaze moving from the collar on the woman’s neck to those smiling eyes, so confident, so… reckless.
“I’m not your dog.” Dong Enyu shook her head, mouthing silently.
Not your dog, never.
Zhao Han’s pupils shrank, not expecting Dong Enyu to ignore the man’s armed threat, suddenly rushing towards the half-open door.
Everything happened so suddenly that the man hadn’t reacted before Dong Enyu was out of sight.
The men in the hall gasped, and the women screamed, the scene completely out of control, with only Zhao Han standing still, glaring coldly at the door.
“Stop! Damn it!” The man shouted just as three gunshots rang out from the dark outside.
Bang! Bang! Bang! —
Is it good? Is it bad?
Zhao Han snapped back to reality, immediately following the man out onto the deck.
The sea wind howled, blowing Zhao Han’s disheveled hair into the wind, blurring her vision.
She saw three flashlight beams on the blood-stained floor, following the blood trail forward, Zhao Han saw black suit pants, a fallen high heel, and then…
Dong Enyu lying on the ground.
“What the hell is going on!” On the deck, three men shouted with flashlights.
The man who chased out saw the woman lying on the ground, wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, and said, “Damn it! What a hassle!”
“Take this woman away! A crippled leg is just right!” The man leaning against the railing waved his hand, signaling the other brothers to follow.
Hearing this, several men lifted the fallen Dong Enyu, preparing to throw her into the sea.
The flashlight illuminated the scene, showing a bullet wound in the woman’s thigh, dark red blood slowly dripping down her ankle, but her face was expressionless, as if the injury wasn’t hers, with a faint smile on her lips.
“Stop, stop!” Just as the robbers were about to leave, two businessmen suddenly pulled out guns, standing by the door.
Their hands trembled, lacking confidence… Pretending, definitely pretending!
“Wait! They have a hostage! Do you want to kill that woman?” Suddenly, a young woman rushed forward, pulling the businessman’s arm.
The onlookers were all terrified, a few men wanted to step forward to stop the violence, but with the robbers present, they didn’t dare to act rashly, let alone rescue the hostage.
“Don’t let them get away! My money is all there!” The crowd split into two factions, one worried about the hostage’s safety, the other concerned about the value of the money.
In just thirty seconds, the two sides were already fighting, men in suits disregarding their image to beat each other, women crying with ruined makeup, the scene was unbearable.
“Go! We’re running out of time!” The man holding Dong Enyu suddenly shouted.
As she fell, Dong Enyu saw Brother Peng holding Zhao Han’s hand.
As if in slow motion, she clearly saw Brother Peng’s expression, the provocative look in his eyes, the smug smile on his lips, the hand-holding indicating possession, his goal achieved, removing the thorn in his side while winning the beauty.
However, Zhao Han’s reaction puzzled Dong Enyu, her calmness, her compromise, her expressionless face… What did it mean?
What was the woman’s feeling when she saw her fall?
Dong Enyu couldn’t decipher it.
But, trading a bullet for freedom was enough.
After hitting the floor heavily, Dong Enyu couldn’t breathe for a moment.
Her eyes blurred, she found herself being pushed off the railing by the men, landing on a cargo ship docked beside the cruise ship, not large in scale, but with a lightweight hull for fast travel.
Just as Dong Enyu caught her breath, the man beside her grabbed her collar, dragging her back into the cluttered cabin.
As the wooden door closed, it marked the official severance of her relationship with Zhao Han…
“Head west! Has the transaction location responded yet?” The noise outside the door was intermittent, mixed with the loud sound of the engine.
Dong Enyu leaned against the door, listening carefully, but could only make out fragments of words, “A bunch of idiots! Hurry up and contact the other side! Carrying a ship full of stolen goods, aren’t you afraid of being caught!”
The shouting outside was noisy, but Dong Enyu remained calm.
She took off her jacket, tearing the sleeve to bind the bleeding wound.
Although the bullet didn’t hit the bone, it still caused her a lot of pain.
Dong Enyu broke out in a cold sweat, trying to steady her breathing while staying alert.
She escaped Zhao Han’s clutches, only to end up on a pirate ship.
Thinking of this, Dong Enyu suddenly chuckled a few times, the movement pulling at her wound, causing her to gasp in pain.
Worse than death…
“Why take hostages! If they die, it’ll be a hassle!” The footsteps outside gradually approached, sounding like heavy boots stepping on rotten wooden planks, creaking and quite piercing.
“Hassle for what? If they die, just throw them into the sea.
Are you afraid the coast guard will find them? They’ll be in a shark’s belly by then.” Another voice rang out, high-pitched, and it sounded like the person was chewing on something while speaking.
Dong Enyu held his breath, closing his eyes to conserve his almost depleted strength.
“But it would be a pity if she really died.
Look at that woman, she’s quite good-looking, how about…” The footsteps stopped, and Dong Enyu heard a sinister laugh.
“Play with her before throwing her away?”
