On the marshland, something strange was happening inside the enormous spatial gate.
As a bridge connecting the continent to an alternate dimension, the spatial gate had to remain intact and stable. Even the slightest change could have unpredictable consequences for the teleportation process.
The white-light gate suddenly began to flicker, swelling and shrinking by turns. It kept spitting out gravel, sand, and fragments of all kinds of objects.
The phenomenon grew increasingly violent. At last, when the gate’s fluctuations reached their peak, it exploded with a bang, leaving a vast crater several hundred yards across in the marsh.
