Yuri Tama: Two Girlfriends and a Nervous Heroine

Three adult women in teal, mauve, and plum clothing smile together on stone steps in a town lit for an evening festival.

Yuri Tama: From Third Wheel to Trifecta follows a girl who agrees to date both of her best friends. She then tries to hide that decision from each of them. If you want a Yuri harem light novel set in an ordinary school, this gives you a clear starting conflict.

J-Novel Club publishes the English edition. Its catalogue lists five volumes, beginning with The First. This guide covers the opening premise, the free sample, and the ebook details checked on 6 November 2026.

Two confessions change a friendship

Yotsuba Hazama thinks Yuna Momose and Rinka Aiba belong together. Their classmates agree. Yuna has an elegant manner, while Rinka has the charm of a prince. Yotsuba feels out of place beside these two popular friends.

Then each friend asks Yotsuba to become her girlfriend. She accepts both proposals before she considers what that means. Her next problem is how to keep both relationships secret while trying to make each girlfriend happy.

The publisher’s series page lists Yuri, harem, and romantic comedy among its tags. The author is toshizou, with illustrations by Kuro Shina. Tristan K. Hill translates the English edition.

The opening includes deception within a relationship. Keep that in mind if you want a romance where everyone agrees to the arrangement from the start. The comedy label does not remove that conflict.

Try Yotsuba’s anxious narration

The free English preview starts with Yotsuba comparing her life with a television romance. She doubts that anyone would want to date her. When she asks her friends for reassurance, she quickly worries about how her message sounds.

You read her thoughts in the first person. She questions herself, reacts to her friends, and fears that their friendship will end. This makes the sample useful if you want to test how much nervous humour you enjoy.

Read the opening before buying several volumes. If her repeated doubts become tiring for you, the sample can help you decide early. If you enjoy the gap between her low opinion of herself and her friends’ attention, continue with the first book.

Five English volumes are listed

The books use these names in order: The First, The Second, The Third, The Fourth, and The Fifth. The first digital volume was released on 11 October 2022. The fifth followed on 31 December 2025.

These are existing releases. The current list does not, by itself, confirm that the whole series has ended. Avoid later book descriptions if you want the relationship changes to remain a surprise.

Numbered online parts divide each volume into reading sections. They are not separate books. Our guide to light novel prepubs explains the difference between reading in parts and buying an ebook.

Choose an ebook you can read

The publisher’s Buy menu links to several ebook stores. The Kobo listing for The First confirms English text, J-Novel Club as publisher, and ISBN 9781718370227. Check the language, volume name, and reading-app support before you pay.

For another school GL comedy with a different starting conflict, see our Watanare light novel guide. To try Yuri Tama, begin with its free preview and decide whether you want more time inside Yotsuba’s thoughts.
