Hataraku Watashi to Kanojo no Dousei is a Japanese Yuri novel by Hata Nomizu, with illustrations by 紫のあ (Shinoa). It follows a florist who takes in a high-school student after the death of the student’s mother. Their shared home brings both comfort and difficult questions about dependence.
The Japanese title is 働く私と彼女の同棲. You may also find it under the English name My Girlfriend and I Are Living Together. The editions checked here are in Japanese. This guide covers the official premise and reading options, checked on 21 October 2026, rather than a review of the full story.
A shared home with an unequal starting point
Matsuri works in a flower shop and keeps other people at a distance. Sumire, a relative who attends high school, has lost her mother and has nowhere to go. Matsuri takes her in reluctantly. At first, the two can barely hold a conversation.
The publisher’s description follows their gradual change as they spend time together. Matsuri learns about Sumire’s home and school life. As Sumire begins to trust her, Matsuri must face her own emotional weaknesses.
This is not a story about two independent adults who choose to move in together. One person provides a home to a younger relative. Grief, an age gap, and dependence are part of the premise. The author’s introduction also makes Matsuri’s growing reliance on Sumire explicit.
If those subjects affect your reading choice, check them before you start. Our Yuri novel content-warning guide shows how to ask about a specific concern without requesting the ending. The points above are not a complete warning list.
The printed book and web version have different contents lists
KADOKAWA published the book under Fujimi L Bunko on 15 April 2022. Its paperback listing gives 320 pages and ISBN 9784040745046. The contents list includes Chapters 1–5, followed by Chapter 0.
The author’s Japanese web version on Kakuyomu is marked complete with 57 episodes. Its contents continue through Chapters 6, 7, and 8, with those later sections dated 2025. The page lists 7 November 2025 as its latest update.
Do not assume that the 2022 book contains all 57 web episodes. These are different publication records. Their contents lists establish that the web page has later sections, but they do not show every change made for print. Start the version you choose from the beginning instead of treating a matching chapter number as an exact continuation point.

The publisher and store pages linked here do not announce an English edition. An English name in a recommendation does not confirm an official translation. Check the language on the product page before payment.
If you want a complete Yuri novel with a confirmed English edition, see our A Lily Blooms in Another World guide. It is a separate fantasy story, not an alternative version of this book.
For Hataraku Watashi to Kanojo no Dousei, start with the Japanese ebook sample or the first web episode. Choose it for the shared-home premise, with the family relationship and age difference in mind.
