“Okay. Let’s go. Don’t be so nervous.”
Xie Mingjun coaxed her softly. She no longer urged Dong Yin to open the door. She could hear the tremor in Dong Yin’s voice and sense her fear.
“Dong Yin, it’s all right. None of us cares about any of this. We’re happy just to have come here. If this makes you uncomfortable, we won’t come.”
She soothed her in a gentle voice, afraid that speaking too loudly would frighten the person inside.
“I’ll step back. I haven’t seen a thing.”
