As it had been for the past few days, thick white snow blanketed the streets and rooftops. A few horses and pedestrians moved along the road, white vapor billowing from their mouths with every breath. It reinforced the very idea of cold; even looking at the scene was enough to feel winter’s bite.
“Cough, cough.”
Curled up on an old sofa beside the stove, Clark coughed like a man with a terminal illness. Chiharu sat across from him, her brows furrowed. There was nothing she could do, so she merely clicked her tongue...
